About MotorIQ

MotorIQ builds modelling systems that analyse how vehicles behave as they age.

The automotive industry produces enormous amounts of structured data — from inspections and service records to component failures and repair costs. Yet most of that information is still used only for historical reporting.

MotorIQ focuses on something different: ownership patterns over time.

By analysing large-scale vehicle datasets, our modelling systems identify how mechanical issues typically emerge across mileage and years of ownership. This helps reveal the types of problems that commonly occur, when they tend to appear, and what they typically cost to repair.

Why MotorIQ Exists

Buying and owning a vehicle is one of the largest financial commitments many households make.

Yet buyers usually have very limited information when deciding whether a car is a good long-term choice.

Traditional vehicle history checks focus on past events such as finance, accidents or theft. They do not show what ownership is likely to look like in the years ahead.

MotorIQ was created to help close that gap.

By analysing historical vehicle behaviour across large populations of similar vehicles, our modelling systems highlight patterns in failures, repair costs and reliability trends as cars age.

Should I Buy This Car?

MotorIQ modelling systems power Should I Buy This Car?, a consumer service that provides ownership risk reports for individual vehicles.

By entering a number plate and mileage, buyers can access insights into:

common mechanical failures

when issues typically occur

typical repair costs

how the vehicle compares with similar cars

The aim is simple: to help buyers better understand the potential ownership risk of the car they are considering.

Our Approach

MotorIQ combines large-scale vehicle datasets with statistical modelling techniques designed to identify patterns in mechanical behaviour over time.

Rather than focusing on single events, our systems analyse patterns across comparable vehicles to understand how issues typically emerge as cars age.

This allows buyers to recognise potential ownership risk earlier — before committing to a purchase.

Leadership

MotorIQ was founded by Vik Barodia and Alex Wheatley, combining experience in automotive marketplaces, digital platforms and large-scale data systems.
